Questions
Short answers about plans, offline use, dryer links and what happens to your records.
Getting started
What is Thottam?
A record book for a cardamom farm. You log each day's pick, what you sold and what you spent, and Thottam adds it up for the year — by crop, and by owned land versus rented land.
There is a second side for curing unit owners: customers, machines and batches, at /dryer.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Thottam runs in your phone's browser. Open it, then use your browser's "Add to Home screen" option and it behaves like an installed app — full screen, its own icon, no app store.
How do I sign in?
With your Google account. There is no separate password to remember, and no password for us to lose.
Does it work without internet?
Partly. Pages you have already opened will open again when you are offline, so you can look things up in the estate.
Saving does need a connection — a new harvest entry, sale or expense will not go through until you are back on network. Nothing is queued in the background, so check that the entry saved before you close the app.
What language is the app in?
English, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi. Use the language picker at the top of the screen — the app and the website both switch, and your choice is remembered on that phone.
Plans and payment
Is Thottam free?
Every new farm gets a 6-month free trial from the day you finish setup. Everything is open during the trial.
What happens when the trial ends?
Your account turns view only. Every record you already entered stays visible and you can keep reading your history, but new entries and edits are blocked until you move to Pro.
Nothing is deleted when the trial ends.
What does Pro cost?
₹100 per month.
How do I move to Pro?
Open Account & Plan and tap Request Pro Plan. The request goes to us, payment is settled offline, and your account is switched to Pro once it is approved.
We contact you to settle payment directly — there is no online payment step in the app.
Can I get a refund?
PLACEHOLDER — refund and cancellation terms go here once decided.
For farmers
What can I track?
Farms and fields, marked as owned or rented, with acreage. Crops on each field. Each day's pick, with kilos and how many labourers worked. Sales, with the dryer or trader you sold to. Expenses. And reminders for pesticide, fertiliser and anything else on a schedule.
Why are my picks grouped into rounds?
Cardamom is picked in rounds roughly three to four weeks apart, so Thottam groups entries automatically: any gap of more than 14 days since the last logged pick starts a new round. You do not have to mark the round yourself.
What is average per labour?
Kilos picked in that entry divided by the number of labourers you logged for it — a quick read on how a day's picking went.
How do reminders work?
Set a title and how many days between applications. Each time you mark it applied, the next due date moves forward, and the dashboard shows what is due.
Can my manager or family use the same farm?
Not with a separate login today. One Google account owns one farm, and everyone entering data would be sharing that single account.
For dryer owners
Where are the dryer tools?
At /dryer — a separate side with its own setup, customers, machines and batches. Same login.
How do I link a farmer to my customer list?
By phone number. If the number you saved for a customer matches a farmer registered on Thottam, you can send a link request. The farmer approves it from their side, and from then on the two accounts are connected.
Customers whose number does not match anyone stay as ordinary typed names — the dryer ledger still works.
What happens when I log an intake for a linked customer?
The intake also reaches the farmer as a request. They review it and assign it to one of their own fields, so the load ends up against the right plot in their records.
What does the farmer see about a batch?
Once they have approved it, the live drying status — waiting, processing, or done — along with the date in and raw kilos.
Your data
Who can see my records?
You. Every row is tied to your login and the database enforces that directly, not just the app screens — another farmer or dryer owner cannot read your records even if they tried.
A platform administrator can read master data — farm names, dryers, link and batch activity — to run support and approve Pro requests.
Can I download my records?
There is no export button in the app yet. Write to us at sales@thottam.online and we will send you a copy of your records.
How do I delete my account?
Email sales@thottam.online or call +91 81138 86914 and we will delete your account and every record in it.
